LASHMA, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Enrol 200 Woman, Youth on Ilera Eko

The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), in partnership with the Senator representing the Lagos Central Senatorial Division, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has enrolled 200 women and youths on the Ilera Eko Health Plan towards the realisation of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) mandate of the Lagos State Government.

The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, speaking at the enrollment ceremony held at Iru/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA), commended the Senator for her kind gesture towards eradicating poverty in the Senatorial District and ensuring that residents have access to affordable and quality healthcare.

She said that the present administration is determined and committed to ensuring that everyone in the State is not left behind in having access to healthcare services, advising the beneficiaries of the health plan not to focus on their businesses alone but to take their health and wellbeing as priority, especially at this challenging time.

“If you concentrate on your business and do not take cognisance of your health, it can affect your business negatively when unexpected health issues occur”, Dr. Zamba noted.

The General Manager said that ILERA EKO covers about 80 per cent of the basic health challenges of residents such as Malaria, Typhoid, Hypertension, Diabetes and Asthma, as well as Caesarean Section (CS) and Blood Transfusion if necessary for pregnant women on the Scheme.

While expressing delight with the collaboration, Dr. Zamba said that it was the first time a politician partnered with the Agency on the enrollment of such a large number of residents, stressing that it signified the beginning of a new trend for the Agency in ensuring that no one is left behind in the scheme.

She, therefore, congratulated the beneficiaries and implored them to judiciously use the gift to achieve the desired objective of their benefactor.

Earlier in her address, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, said that her decision to give IleraEko Health insurance plan to the 200 beneficiaries was due to her concern for some residents in her senatorial district, who do not have access to a good healthcare system that supports proper diagnosis of ailments and treatment whenever they are sick.

She said that the partnership with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) would give the beneficiaries an opportunity to access proper healthcare for one year for any ailment covered under the health plan without paying additional money.

Similarly, Senator Tinubu also gave grants to the 200 beneficiaries, in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and Microfis Microfinance Bank, as a form of empowerment that would provide succour to the people and improve their businesses.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Senatorial District Leader and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Chairman, Board of Directors, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Femi Pedro; Member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun and Chairman, Iru/Victoria Island LCDA, Princess Rasheedat Adu among others.
